Google allows you to filter image results by the type of license.

  1. Go to https://images.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl to search for an image.
  2. Search for an image.
  3. Find the Tools link and click it. It will open up a new menu bar of filtering choices.
    Google Image Tools

  4. Choose Usage rights. It will give you three options.

Answer the following questions:

  1. What do you notice about the quality and types of images that are available when you change between the most and least restrictive usage rights options?

  2. Are there certain sites whose images are unavailable when you change the usage rights to Creative Commons licenses? Why do you think that is?

  3. Imagine you were creating a collage for a school project. Explain the pros and cons of using this tool on Google images to help you make that collage.
